Biography of Dr NagualX

Dr NagualX has been on the road since 1993 as an organist, an instrumentalist, a scene shifter.

1993/1999 : Played with Baobab , Improvisator Dub , Culture , Macka B, Israèl Vibration, Gladiators , Toots and THE Maytals, , Alpha Blondy..
- Seyni and yeliba
Played with Dubians ,Tryo + Festival Afro (Germany)

And dub, with the creation of the labo X studio(1999), takes and sound mixing followed on..
Birth of Ethnic eyes (computer cross-fertilization, turntables, machines and instruments) for a single  tour in 2000.:
- first part of Kilimanjaro(Jamaïca)Chronicles, Lobe Radian Dub, Guiding Star(sound system, France°)

2001 :  the Dr NagualX worked at the labo X studio, giving an enchanting energetic and melodic electroacoustic diagnosis (mixing live instruments, machine effects, powerful bass guitars, various guests..).
2003  : He met Nico from Noviciat(collectif de videastes) (a collective of video directors) and worked with them on an experience .

Since then, he has been standing up on your stages with machines (sequencers, samplers and effects) , instruments (Hammond organ, FX keyboard) for a 100% powerful dub..

The illegal dub was born, unveiling in 2004 a seven title LP: “100 % Dub Illegal”.
 

Committed in his texts and his samples, The illegal dub collaborated with Tone yo and Nico ,2 vj of  Noviciat, on about fifteen experiences during the summer 2004. With bands such as : Aïwa, Uzinadub, Djing, Petit Vodo, Interlope (Ciné Sans Filets),.In the fringe festival on 2 evenings after Kaly live dub ,la phaze  .Festival "agissez" with Guem Percussions. At the end of the tour, there was a show at Batofar in Paris with Idem ( an Echoes’ evening).

In 2005 : Dr NagualX gave birth to a new sound and visual  ELECTRO DUB'N'BASS  diagnosis !

the Dr NagualX  is on the road again, but alone this time (now directing sound and video) offering a multimedia show mixing all genres : music with a message, machines, electroacoustic instruments, synchronised videos.).
- First part of antibalas(afrobeat band from Brooklin) in Agen at the Florida, with Aïzell at the Mars Attack in Angoulême..
- In the fringe festival with the Dub You Sound System (Parc des Expositions à Poitiers), the Francofolies (La Rochelle), 2 nights in Festival de Pont L'abbé (Trou Perdu) with Hilight Tribe et Black Bomb A.

In September, Dr NagualX played his  ELECTRO DUB'N'BASS  in meetings such as ::
-  dugny : gathering sud rail
- Auch : CNT (national worker committee))
- Bure : anti-nuclear demonstration against the buryings.

le Dr NagualX will be in the closing concert along with Lab (in October), Strup X( (in November), Zmiya, Masaladosa, and the Improvisators Dub ( In December).

At the end of 2005, Dr Nagual X met johan puisais, a webmaster and a graphic designer, and Alex dub from the dreadzine Culture Dub. A collaboration was born: on the one hand, the web development and design with johan puisais and on the other hand with Alex on the production of the second album of Dr nagual X.

This gave birth to an independent label: Djahkooloo records!

At the beginning of 2006, Dr Nagual X shut himself away in the labo X studio to complete his second album: "illegal dub music". 11 unreleased audio pieces + a medley of videos were released at the beginning of May on the independent label djahkooloo records.

His second album "illegal dub music" was born. 11 pieces putting together different styles with 11 guests (singers, a trombone player, a tablist, a guitarist …). Dr Nagual offers us a new electro dub’n’bass journey. The “illegal dub music” was released at the end of 2006 on the label "djahkooloo record".

Dr Nagual X did few live acts with "Steve waring" ( the singer of “Ange””) at the anti-nuclear gathering at Bure, the “hérétiques”, the “hypnotek”, "carbone14", "Oncle Sam"(discovery francofolies 2006) , the "free dub sound system" , "Miniman "..

In 2007, the “illegal dub music” was distributed by Mosaic music. The doc doesn’t only produce his own records, Dr Nagual x met "Daouda et Sanga Ras band". Together, they made the first LP of the singer: "Sans papiers" released in May 2007 with New Roots music playing in the background and committed texts. He also met "Veganesh" a bio slam singer and his friend Jean Jean who is his human beat box and who plays other instruments as well. After working at the labo X on a part of his album and on a composition of Nagual, the album "Slamanimales" was released at the end of 2007.

But the Doc doesn’t forget to play live: you could have seen him with “Minitel” at the Puyro Divers, at the Emergence Tecknologique parties with "Electrod" , "Hall Uni Son" and" JahGarden Sound System" , "the Earth Festival" at the Parc of Bercy in Paris for 2 days, at the Arenes of Nanterre, at the end of the Festival of Puyroland with "François hadji Lazzaro" from Pigalle, Festiv'Art of La Rochelle with "Gregsky", festival "MixOmatos" of the confort moderne in Poitiers..Several of his videos were projected during the Télérama Dub Festival at the cinema of the glazart in Paris.

At the beginning of 2008, Dr Nagual X worked in the labo X to put an end to his third album and went on tour to give a new Electro Dub'n'bass diagnosis.

The year is passing by with a lot of work at the Labstudio and a few live performances with Add, SayagJazz, at the Earth Festival at Bercy and finally at the ‘Galipotes’ about the theme of aliens…

2009 will be a very productive year for the Doc Nagual X.

A new creation of the original soundtrack (music) for the film ‘au petit colibri’ directed by Marc Antoine Déprat : it’s a committed film on the ‘permaculture’. You can watch it in the category ‘revue de presse’ of this site.

The doc is working on a remix of the track "good sensi" by Zion Train that you will find in a nagual’s track: "Pipeline"(2 e lp of the Doc) by neil perch !!

Next step: the creation of the JAH AIR FORCE sound system with Mystiknarf, DrFouin , the singer Spraggy and the Doc, for a few sound systems in tribute to Manutension. One of them was the Reggae Sun Ska in August 2010.

It will give the creation of a new live band, the ‘DUBVEDA’ with Mystiknarf, Dr Fouin (ex-Improvisators Dub) and the Dr NagualX !!

At the end of 2009, the Doc took the road with the ‘Weeding Dub Crew’ on the ‘Love and Direct Tour’ through the Balkans for a dozen gigs as a driver, a sound engineer and a video director.

After coming back from this trip, the doc made a video : ‘weeding dub tour in the balkans’

At the beginning of 2010, the Doc concentrated on his third album and the preparation of the first vinyl (10 inches) of the Dub Veda (it will be released at the beginning of 2010) and the live gigs of the Dub Veda Crew!!

The Doc is on the road again in da DUBVEDA band!!
